October 19th, 2011 – Hipjoint Gets A Big Time Rush!
Hipjoint recently completed some vocal production work on a few songs with the boys from Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush. The songs will be featured in their upcoming film Big Time Movie (currently shooting in Vancouver!). BTR also have a new album slated for release in November.
October 17th, 2011 – RJ Berger Is Ready for Derriere!
The Derriere Song by Hipjoint featuring Ezme was recently cleared for use in an upcoming episode of the MTV comedy show The Hard Times of RJ Berger. The show has been described by its creators and critics alike as a cross between the teen-oriented television comedy-drama The Wonder Years and the comedy film Superbad. October 14th, 2011 – So You Think You Can Fight?
The team over at So You Think You Can Dance Canada have chosen the awesomely raucous Fight Song by the Young Goulets for usage in an upcoming episode of the show! Put on your dancing shoes and see if you can keep up. Here we goooo!!
September 1st, 2011 – ‘Alright!’ Swims With Dolphin Tale!
Shiloh‘s Hipjoint written and produced song Alright! from her 2008 debut album Picture Imperfect will be featured in the trailer for the new family film Dolphin Tale (Warner Brothers Pictures)! The story centers on the friendship between a boy and a dolphin whose tail was lost in a crab trap. The film stars Morgan Freeman, Harry Connick Jr, Ashley Judd, Nathan Gamble and of course Winter the dolphin. In a theatre near you September 23rd.
August 30th, 2011 – ‘What We Gonna Do’ Official Music Video!!
Stef Lang released two new singles Burn All Your Ships and What We Gonna Do on August 5th on the Hipjoint Music label. Both songs were written and recorded by Stef at Hipjoint and co-produced and mixed by Lil Henriques. The official music video was directed and produced by JAMCO Audio & Visual Productions (Jamie Hughes). August 30th, 2011 – Telus All About It!
We recently received news that two H-Songs Publishing tracks have been selected for two different Telus commercials featuring their services via Fiber-optic network called Optik; The ever popular Let’s Go (Hipjoint Ft Sherry St Germain) as well as the Jeff Dawson co-write called L.O.V.E. Catch them on an HDTV near you!
July 12th, 2011 – Mr. Immature supasses 20,000 Plays!
Nielsen’s Broadcast Data Systems on airplay and sales is featured weekly in Billboard magazine and is widely cited by numerous publications and broadcasters as the standard for music industry measurement. Stef Lang‘s huge single Mr. Immature was just recognized by Broadcast Data Systems for surpassing 20,000 monitored plays at Canadian Commercial radio. Awesome!
July 4th, 2011 – The Underdog Nominated for a WCMA!!
Congratulations to Stef Lang on her nomination for Pop Album of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards for her 2010 debut record The Underdog!! The majority of album was recorded right here at Hipjoint in January 2010. The WCM Awards will take place in Whitehorse, YK during the Breakout West Conference and Festival October 20th-23rd, 2011. July 4th, 2011 – Hipjoint Schools Degrassi!
We just received word that SIX(!) H-Songs published tracks will be appearing in upcoming episodes of Degrassi TNG!! They are (in no particular order) Bryan Finlay‘s All I Can Do (written/produced by Mike & Troy), Tara Lett‘s Desire & Music Is Fashion (written by Phil Lehmann & Tara), Brock Zanrosso‘s Suffocate which by the way, will be included on his much awaited EP Prelude slated to be released this August (written by Troy, Mike and Brock ) and Quanteisha‘s Get Loose (Hipjoint Remix) ( written/produced by Troy & Mike) and Laurell‘s Go Disco (written by Laurell & Phil Lehmann). Who’s ready for a POP quiz? Ha. Get it? POP….like pop…music…okay nevermind!
June 30th, 2011 – H-Songs Signs Jeff Dawson & Sherry St Germain
Mike and Troy are happy to report that two more writers have been signed to their growing publishing division! Longtime collaborator, performer/songwriter/producer Sherry St Germain (you may have heard her on the song Let’s Go and Crank It Up) and hit writer/producer/mixer Jeff Dawson (State of Shock, Daniel Powter, John Wozniak) are now officially part of the H-Songs family! The fine folks of the WB network just picked up Crank It Up by Hipjoint featuring Sherry St Germain for an upcoming episode of the show Hellcats starring Ashley Tisdale. Gooooooo team!
May 9th, 2011 – It’s a Brand New Day for Law & Order LA!
The song Brand New Day by Hipjoint featuring Sonny O’Brien was just placed in the NBC network show Law and Order LA! The show revolves around the life of the police task force of the Los Angeles police department and stars Skeet Ulrich.
May 9th, 2011 – Get Loose with ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey’
The third season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey has begun airing on Bravo TV and promote the new season, the show’s producers have chosen Quanteisha‘s Get Loose (Hipjoint Remix) for usage in their TV spots!
May 8th, 2011 – Justin Blais is ‘Wingin It’!

April 18th, 2011 – Kate Hipjoint-Hudson Cranks It Up!
Another win for Hipjoint and Kate Hudson! This time Crank It Up by Hipjoint Featuring Sherry St. Germain will be featured in the upcoming feature film Something Borrowed based on the best-selling book of the same name by Emily Griffin. The song will also be included on the soundtrack (released by Watertown Music)! Friendships are tested and secrets come to the surface when the terminally single Rachel falls for Dex, her best friend Darcy’s (Hudson) fiance. Uh Oh!
March 28th, 2011 – Bounce Winner now Juno Winner!
Hipjoint congratulates Quanteisha on her big win at the 40th Anniversary Juno Awards in Toronto this past weekend! The 2008 Bounce Showdown Winner won the Juno for Best R&B/Soul Recording of the Year for her song Stars (written with Tanjola Entertainment) beating out established artists Keshia Chante, Karl Wolf and Silver. Way to go!!
February 22nd, 2011 – Let’s Go is A Little Bit Of Heaven
Let’s Go by Hipjoint featuring Sherry St Germain will be featured in the upcoming romantic comedy A Little Bit Of Heaven starring Gael Garcia Bernal and Kate Hudson! The film follows a guarded woman who discovers she has cancer, but when she meets her soulmate, the threat of falling in love is scarier than death. Tissue please!!
February 14th, 2011 – Bryan Finlay EP!!
Bounce Showdown Winner Bryan Finlay came through the studio in January to record his first two songs with us. We all had a great time and the resulting tracks Sentimental Fool and All I Can Do will be digitally released on his first self-titled EP on the Hipjoint Music label! December 16th, 2010 – Dust in Gravity Billboard’s Best List!
Billboard has released their Best of 2010 charts, and Delerium‘s hit single Dust In Gravity came in at #12 on the Dance Club Songs chart! The chart measures the most popular songs played in dance clubs in 2010, compiled from reports from a national sample of club DJs. Dust In Gravity remixed by Sultan and Ned Shepard is from Delerium’s album Remixed: The Definitive Collection. The song was written by Delerium with Hipjoint‘s Mike James, Troy Samson and Stef Lang. Way to go team!

December 13th, 2010 – Three Cheers From The CRMAs!!
The Canadian Radio Music Awards taking place in Toronto in March 2011 at Canadian Music Week, announced the nominees for their annual awards show. This year’s list of awesome nominees include two Hipjoint artists! Stef Lang received two nominations in the categories Contemporary Hit Radio & Hot Adult Contemporary for her huge hit Mr. Immature and Quanteisha got a nod for her track D’n'G in Dance/Urban/Rhythmic category. Well done and good luck!
November 22, 2010 – Bryan Finlay Wins The Bounce Showdown!
The Bounce Showdown #7 winner is 17-year-old Bryan Finlay of Edmonton! The crowd at Bonnie Doon Shopping Centre in Edmonton this past weekend went absolutely nuts for Bryan! He not only sings, but also plays the guitar, keyboard and trumpet. Thanks to 91.7 The Bounce, Bonnie Doon Shopping Cetnre for hosting the event as well as everyone that came out to participate! Mike and Troy have been invited to host a panel this year at the uber-cool M for Montreal music conference taking place November 17th to 20th 2010! The panel is called It’s All About That One Good Song: The Ins And Outs Of Great Songwriting and will feature some amazing songwriters sharing their knowledge. Our very own Phil Lehmann has been run off his feet producing cool Vancouver based indie folk/pop band The Oh Wells, writing and producing for pop artist Jessica Brock, writing with Break Out West Pop Album of The Year winner Laurell, as well as collaborating with UK hit maker Peter Wright. September 29th, 2010 – Hipjoint Makes One Angry Juror
Hipjoint song Things Are Gonna Get Better was cleared for usage on the Lifetime network original movie One Angry Juror starring Grey’s Anatomy star Jessica Capshaw. The film premiers on November 15th.
September 22nd 2010 – We’ve Got A Crush On Isabelle!
Isabelle Stern one of six hopeful finalists on YTV’s talent search show The Next Star recently shot the video for her Hipjoint written and produced track I’ve Got A Crush On You. Isabelle was paired up with Mike and Troy for the show and had a chance to hang out and work with the them. The video looks great! Good Luck Isabelle!!
September 13th, 2010 – Meet Beatrice Love!
2010 Bounce Showdown winner Beatrice Love was in the Hipjoint Studio in August recording two new songs. Production is just wrapping up and is sounding great! September 1st, 2010 – Degrassi Triple Threat!!
Three Hipjoint tracks have recently been approved for usage in upcoming episodes of our favorite teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation! They are Stef Lang’s Diamonds, Rick Threat’s The Booty Song and Keep On Movin’ by The Young Goulets.
